Spring has finally arrived and hibernation has ended! It is a time to let the light in and clear the mind, body, and space around us. There are several tools used to cleanse and heal energies such as Selenite, Sage, and Palo Santo.
What is Selenite?
Selenite is used to clear energy fields and can cleanse crystals as well. Selenite crystals work to help you to bring light down from the higher realms into the physical body, to create personal transformation. These crystals carry a strong vibration that may open the crown chakra. A great spot for Selenite in the home is where sunlight can hit it as the Sun cleans and gives the crystal its power.
What is Sage?
Sage is a herb that is not only good for cooking and alternative medicines but has great spiritual benefits. The process of cleansing with Sage is called Smudging. Smudging is a sacred Native American tradition of using white sage to clear negative energy and entities.
What is Palo Santo?
Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood”. It is part of the citrus family and has sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon.
Palo Santo is used for its energetically cleansing and healing properties similar to Sage. It provides an uplifting scent that raises your vibration in preparation for meditation. It is also said that Palo Santo enhances creativity and brings good fortune to those who are open to its magic.
How to Perform a Cleansing Ritual
-Open every door and window in your house, and turn on fans if you have them.
-Light the Sage or Palo Santo, and when it catches fire, blow it out and allow the embers to start to smoke (like you would light incense). Use any fireproof plate or bowl to catch the ash and embers. Traditionally, Sage is burned over an abalone shell.
-Set your intention for each room. Say a prayer of cleansing. For example, “I cleanse this room of any impurities and negativity”
-Walk around the room, waving the stick so its smoke drifts into corners, along walls, around windows, and along ceiling lines. As you do, imagine the smoke absorbing negativity, problems from those who were in the space before you, toxicity, and anything else you want to go away. See the smoke dissipating and floating out the windows, and imagine that bad energy flowing out of your space, making room for positive, fresh energy.
-After you’ve blessed every room, give yourself a shower. Cup your hands over the smoke and “wash” your face with it, then wave it all over your body as you would in a water shower. Visualize any residual negativity sailing out of your body, out of your home, and into oblivion.
