The word Chakra means “wheel of light” and signifies one of seven basic energy centers in the body. Each Chakra is a vortex, spinning sacred life-force energy into or out of the body. The Chakra System is a map for the journey through life. Its seven rainbow colors represent the full spectrum of human possibility that stretches from the ordinary to the extraordinary, from Earth to heaven, forming a bridge and describing the steps between them.
There are 7 major Chakras connected to and a part of the physical body. All are connected and are located from the torso through the head. Each chakra transmits and receives life-force energy often called “chi”, “qi,” “prana,” or “universal intelligence.” There are also many minor Chakras, most of which are located at the joints of the physical body, as well as in the hands and feet. On the physical level each chakra governs a main organ or gland, which is then connected to other body parts that resonate the same frequency.
Every organ, gland and body system is connected to a Chakra and each Chakra is connected to a color vibrational frequency. For example, the heart chakra governs the thymus gland and it is also in charge of the functioning of the heart organ, lungs, bronchia system, lymph glands, secondary circulatory system, our immune system, as well as the arm and hands. The heart Chakra resonates to the color green.
The seven main Chakra centers are aligned along the spinal column. If there are disturbances on any level, this shows in the Chakra’s vitality level. Also, each of the seven main Chakras has their own intelligence center. This means that each Chakra is not only associated with our physical health but also controls aspects connected to our emotional, mental and spiritual belief system.
The physical body is a unit made of many different integral parts that are designed to be self-correcting. The body’s job is to maintain balance and the free-flow of this sacred energy. The Chakras serve as an energetic gateway, feeding the body sacred energy and providing an outlet for the release and dispersal of spent energy.
When one part of a Chakra center is out of sync it may eventually affect its other parts and possibly its neighboring Chakra. When a Chakra center is out of balance it generally means that it is over-active or under-active, or possibly congested or blocked. If this happens it is usually felt on a mental, emotional or physical level. Stress, inability to express emotions, beliefs that are not in alignment with Truth, and/or disconnection from a Higher Power can cause the Chakra system to become out of balance.
Each of the seven main Chakras has its own innate intelligence and function. Similar to how your body functions automatically, your Chakra centers also operate automatically. To help balance a chakra–whether on an emotional, intellectual, physical or spiritual level–we need to bring in the chakra (color) vibration, which resonates at the same frequency.
Using Reiki, Angel Therapy®, guided imagery, meditation, color and/or sound therapy, as well as other holistic approaches, the Chakras are balanced by inviting them back to their natural state of vibration & frequency.
